Teach them ALL to Read - Reading Comprehension Resources from HBE
Progress–Monitoring Comprehension Assessments
Formative assessment is an important part of student learning. These books provide ready–to–use assessments that can be implemented to identify comprehension issues or to track student progress throughout the year. Each book explores curriculum-aligned standards and provides reproducible student pages.
Some students need additional modelling and guided practice to master the comprehension strategies they will be tested on. With this 6-book series, it's easy to provide customised intervention. Each year–specific book includes: explicit reteaching prompts; 4 hands–on practice pages per strategy; instant assessment activity for every strategy.
Can all your students read fluently, independently and with understanding? Just as puzzle pieces fit together to complete a picture, reading skills are dependent upon one another to make reading meaningful to students. Based on the bestseller Teach Them ALL to Read by Elaine K. McEwan, The Reading Puzzle series helps you organise instruction to better develop students core reading skills.
Help students develop and practise the skills the need to compare and contrast fiction and nonfiction passages. There are 25 units in Paired Passages: Linking Fact to Fiction. Each individual unit contains two high–interest passages: the first is nonfiction, the second is fiction. Each passage is written at year level with appropriate vocabulary and sentence structure and is tied together with a common theme.
Here's a way to teach the same year–level content to students with varying reading skills! The same information is written at three different levels: below year level, at year level and above year level. All the students in your class can read the passage and have the information they need to respond to the same six questions that evaluate their comprehension of the subject matter.
